Carolyn Watson won 3rd place in the Emmerich Kallman International Conducting Competition in Budapest, 2012.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Congratulations to conductor Carolyn Watson who has won\u00a0the annual 2013\u00a0Brian Stacey Award for Emerging Australian Conductors under the auspices of the Helpmann Awards.\u00a0\u00a0As the winner of the award,\u00a0Carolyn\u00a0\u00a0Watson receives an $8000 prize.<\/p>\n

The Brian Stacey Memorial Trust was launched\u00a0in 1997 on the first anniversary of the death of Brian Stacey. The\u00a0Trust Fund in his name serves to commemorate the life, the\u00a0work and the contribution to musical life, of Australian Conductor Brian Stacey, who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in October 1996.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Fund aims to provide support to conductors in Australia who wish to enhance their conducting skills, in particular by exploring performance genres outside their normal field of work.<\/p>\n

Previous winners include Guy Noble (1998),\u00a0Benjamin Northey\u00a0(2003) and Daniel Carter (2012).<\/p>\n
