Cellist Georg Pedersen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

When you think of Johannes Brahms, chances are the first thing you think of is his inimitable lullaby. But what’s the second? Probably his suite of Hungarian Dances<\/em>. Bowing to popular demand, the Balmain Sinfonia\u00a0conducted by Gary Stavrou will perform\u00a0the Hungarian Dances<\/em> No.s 11-16<\/em> in its upcoming concert along with\u00a0Haydn’s Cello Concerto\u00a0No 1,<\/em> which will feature soloist Georg Pedersen,\u00a0one of Australia’s foremost teachers and performers.<\/p>\n

The Balmain Sinfonia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Georg is an accomplished\u00a0soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and principal orchestral player with a career in Australia and overseas. He was solo cellist in The Royal Danish Philharmonic and founder of the Dania Quartet and the Copenhagen Chamber Soloists. He tours widely for the ABC and the Department of Foreign Affairs. In 2011 he gave master classes at Northwestern University in Chicago and at the Juilliard School in New York. Georg studied with Paul Tortelier in Paris and Gregor Piatigorsky in Los Angeles, and chamber music performance with the Prague Quartet and the Vlach Quart<\/p>\n
