{"id":14000,"date":"2013-08-24T06:23:20","date_gmt":"2013-08-23T20:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=14000"},"modified":"2013-08-24T06:23:20","modified_gmt":"2013-08-23T20:23:20","slug":"a-new-appointment-for-roland-peelman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=14000","title":{"rendered":"A New Appointment for Roland Peelman"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_14002\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14002\" style=\"width: 164px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14002\" alt=\"Roland Peelman\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Roland-164x240.jpg\" width=\"164\" height=\"240\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14002\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Roland Peelman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In news from The Song Company, Artistic Director\u00a0 Roland Peelman has been\u00a0\u00a0appointed\u00a0Artistic Director of the Canberra International\u00a0Music Festival from 2015 to 2017.<\/p>\n<div>In a statement released recently, The Song Company announced that\u00a0Roland Peelman&#8217;s\u00a0role will commence\u00a0 in April 2014 replacing the current CIMF Director, Chris Latham.\u00a0Roland Peelman will fulfil his new role\u00a0 alongside\u00a0his existing\u00a0 commitments to The Song Company as he continues to oversee all\u00a0artistic planning and direction of the\u00a0\u00a0company.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;Roland\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0new role with CIMF is the natural extension of a long standing\u00a0\u00a0and mutually beneficial relationship between the Festival and\u00a0the Song Company.\u00a0 Roland and the Song Company have\u00a0featured at\u00a0 the festival for several years presenting\u00a0\u00a0many extraordinary concerts there. At this year&#8217;s festival,\u00a0this included\u00a0Sculthorpe&#8217;s <em>Great South Land<\/em>,\u00a0broadcast live by ABC Classic FM, the special Wagner concert\u00a0featuring Act III of <em>Parsifal<\/em>, as well as the concert\u00a0\u00a0featuring work by Gavin Bryars, and the premiere of Andrew\u00a0Ford&#8217;s <em>Australian Aphorisms<\/em>, commissioned for the\u00a0\u00a0Song Company.\u00a0 Both organisations look forward to working\u00a0\u00a0together in order to build audiences and engage young people\u00a0\u00a0 in fine music making.
