Pianist, founder and Artistic Director\u00a0Kathy Selby, AM will perform with old friends and new, from Australia and around the world. Chameleon -like, the ensemble will morph from duos to larger ensembles\u00a0to perform\u00a0world premieres\u00a0as well as\u00a0cornerstones of the chamber\u00a0repertoire with a special focus on the chamber music of Beethoven.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Kathy Selby has drawn her guest performers from Australia and around the world &#8211; Sweden, Finland, Britain, Germany and the USA.\u00a0 Together, they will\u00a0perform world premi\u00e8res by Paul Dean and Clancy Newman\u00a0alongside masterworks by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Faur\u00e9 and Grieg.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The series opens\u00a0in March with New York based Australian\u00a0cellist Clancy Newman returning to Selby &amp; Friends to\u00a0perform Mozart, Brahms, Schubert and a world premiere of one of his works, <em>Collision Course.\u00a0<\/em>Competing the\u00a0ensemble for this concert are\u00a0violinist and\u00a0Concertmaster of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra Natalie Chee, S&amp;F Development Artist\u00a0clarinettist Som Howie\u00a0and Kathy Selby.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14089\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14089\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14089\" alt=\"untitled\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/untitled2.png\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14089\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Susie Park<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The second tour in May sees the return of another New York based Australian, violinist Susie Park, who will join Finnish born cellist and principal with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Timo-Veikko Valve in an all Beethoven celebration. In June\/July, violinist Daniel Dodds and\u00a0cellist Julian Smiles from the Goldner quartet and the Australia Ensemble,\u00a0make up\u00a0a trio with Selby\u00a0to perform\u00a0more Beethoven, Faure and Tchaikovsky. The Australian born Daniel Dodds was mooted by the great Nathan Milstein to be Paganini&#8217;s grandson! Adept in chamber, orchestral and cross-over styles, Dodds is Artistic Director of the Festival Strings in Lucerne, He\u00a0has also\u00a0performed with Claudio Abbado&#8217;s Lucerne Festival Orchestra and is\u00a0Co-Concert-Master for the Australian World Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Swedish cellist Torleif Thed\u00e9en\u00a0makes up a duo with\u00a0Kathy Selby\u00a0for the\u00a0September series. \u00a0Thed\u00e9en has a busy career\u00a0teaching in northern Europe and has\u00a0performed with the major orchestras of Europe, amongst them, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Berliner Symphoniker, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the\u00a0Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra,\u00a0under conductors like Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Berglund, Neeme J\u00e4rvi, Franz Welser-M\u00f6st, Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Leif Segerstam.
