Philip Bailey with Yehudi Menuhin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In 1974, Philip Bailey landed a gig in London selling electric cars for Yehudi Menuhin.\u00a0Although that enterprise was shortlived, it was the beginning of a 20 year association and friendship with the Menuhins.\u00a0\u00a0Bailey joined their entourage and became the famous violinist\u2019s personal assistant, travelling the world with him.\u00a0 In 2008, he released the biography, Yehudiana: Reliving the Menuhin Odyssey<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Trinity Grammar School\u2019s Society of the Arts presents The Menuhins – A Miraculous Menage<\/em> in which\u00a0the brilliant and entertaining raconteur in collaboration with SSO violinist Marina Marsden and concert pianist Clemens Leske will share music and stories at the heart of the Menuhin saga. Amusing and moving anecdotes\u00a0from Bailey\u2019s experiences touring with the Menuhins will introduce the music they lived and loved.\u00a0The repertoire is a\u00a0representative mix of music from the Baroque to the modern. It\u00a0includes Nigun<\/em> from Ernest Bloch’s 1923 Baal Shem Suite, Bartok’s Romanian Dances<\/em> and, at the other end of the time line, the chamber music of J S Bach.<\/p>\n
