Last month, conductor Simone Young gave this interview to\u00a0Deutsche Welle, Germany’s national broadcaster.<\/p>\n

In it she talks about her work as general manager and music director at the Hamburg State Opera and chief conductor of the Hamburg State Philharmonic.<\/p>\n

As well as giving her insights into some basics of conducting, she also talks about her meteoric rise from her childhood on the beaches of Manly to\u00a0\u00a0following in the footsteps of musicians like Tchaikovsky, Mahler and Klemperer who all conducted at the Hamburg State Opera.<\/p>\n
