Soloist and principal flautist is Perth musician, Georgia Browne, who currently resides in London, who will play an authentic wooden \u2018classical flute\u2019, consistent with the ethos of the group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Australian musician and educator\u00a0Richard Gill OAM is artistic director of the ensemble which\u00a0was formed in 2013 \u2018to inspire, educate and enlighten\u2019 audiences. Drawing on the combination of historical integrity and quality of musical performance, the ensemble is leading the rediscovery of the Classical and Romantic repertoire with the beauty and clarity unique to a full period instrument orchestra. Historically Informed Performance, or HIP, is central to the orchestra\u2019s <i>raison d\u2019etre<\/i>: all instruments are either 18<sup>th<\/sup> century originals or replicas of them. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a concerted attempt to reverse to the much-cited artistic \u2018brain drain\u2019, orchestra seventeen88 is also dedicated to gathering in the finest Australian musicians from overseas and all over Australia, where they perform in various elite national and international ensembles.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Gill OAM is founding Music Director of Victorian Opera and Artistic Director of the Sydney Symphony Education Program. He he is one of this country&#8217;s pre-eminent conductors and a passionate advocate of music education.
