Regarded as one of Australia’s foremost composers, Ann Carr-Boyd has produced a diverse and prolific output of chamber music over the years. Her composition\u00a0Fandango\u00a0<\/i>was voted one of the top 100 works in ABC Classic FM’s survey of chamber music.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Presented by Thoroughbass and Wirripang, Flying West<\/i>\u00a0is a concert of music by Ann Carr-Boyd\u00a0which represents the culmination of 2 years of work, reviving\u00a0a bottom-drawerful of manuscripts from 40 years ago. These works were written for the The Consort of Sydney led by Robert Goode, and have lain dormant since the group disbanded after its decade of touring Australia and Europe. These works have now been published and recorded in a massive undertaking.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ann\u2019s\u00a0music is full of character and charm – experience the tedium and anxiety of the doctor\u2019s waiting room in\u00a0Flying West\u00a0<\/i>(a joyful and fun-filled suite for recorder, harpsichord and cello, composed in 2014), and how to bake a cake in\u00a0The Boomerang Chocolate Cake<\/i>, complete with banging saucepans and a good slurp of wine.<\/p>\n
