Soprano Jane Sheldon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Omega Ensemble\u00a0presents an unusual and intimate performance of the music of Mahler in the July concert of their Virtuoso Series with guest artist, New York based Australian soprano, Jane Sheldon.<\/p>\n

Accompanying this German epic are two Australian works including a world premiere of\u00a0\u00a0Chamber Symphony<\/em>\u00a0for ensemble and soprano, composed by Mark Isaacs and commissioned especially for \u00a0the Omega Ensemble and Paul Stanhope’s Songs of the Shadowland.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mahler\u2019s\u00a0Symphony No. 4<\/em>\u00a0is one of the closest to chamber music of all of Mahler\u2019s immense output. This unique arrangement by Klaus Simon from 2007 retains Mahler\u2019s unmistakable orchestral sound within an intimate and innovative chamber setting, drawing new life from Mahler\u2019s symphony.<\/p>\n

The Omega Ensemble is joined by Jane Sheldon for the symphony\u2019s final movement presenting a child\u2019s view of heaven as a place of serene delight.\u00a0<\/p>\n
