The Musician Project with conductor and artistic director Max McBride<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Musician Project performs two great works from the Romantic orchestral repertoire in its final concert for 2015.<\/p>\n

Artistic Director Max McBride will conduct the orchestra, opening with Schubert’s\u00a0Incidental Music to Rosamunde, D. 797,\u00a0<\/em>followed by Brahms’\u00a0Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 68.<\/em><\/p>\n

The musical world was coming to grips with the anarchism and innovation of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9\u00a0<\/em>(completed in 1824; Beethoven died in 1827), when Brahms inherited the mantle of symphonic writing. Brahms took 14 years to complete this first symphony. Emerging from the very large shadow cast by Beethoven, the lengthy gestation period was well worthwhile and this piece earned its place amongst the canon of great symphonies.<\/p>\n

The Musician Project gave its premiere performance in 2014, co-founded in 2013 by Sam Torrens, Daniel Dean, and Max McBride with the aim of providing vital training opportunities for aspiring orchestral musicians to work alongside established professionals.<\/p>\n
