The Tallis Scholars<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Tallis Scholars are returning to Sydney as part of an extended national tour of Australia. Founded in 1973 by Peter Phillips, and still directed by him, they are considered one of the world’s leading exponents of Renaissance sacred music. They have scheduled two performances in Sydney, each with a different programme.<\/p>\n

Included in the repertoire are many works that have become signature pieces for the ensemble – traditional Renaissance polyphony by Tallis, Byrd and Allegri and a smattering of later pieces that provide interest and variety. The Tallis Scholars will perform one of the most celebrated choral works, Allegri\u2019s Miserere<\/em>, whose score was a closely guarded secret for 150 years, and used exclusively in the Sistine Chapel.<\/p>\n

A Tallis Marathon package offers a combined discount to both performances.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has already purchased the evening performance only needs to call the box office to get their discount on the second performance.<\/p>\n
