Mark Isaacs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Acclaimed Australian pianist and composer Mark Isaacs presents a solo recital of piano masterworks that span the intimate to the tempestuous which includes a world premiere of his own.<\/p>\n

The concert will feature works by Chopin, Rachmaninov Debussy, Satie and Poulenc, as well as selections from Isaacs\u2019 solo piano cycle Children\u2019s Songs,<\/em> premiered at the Adelaide Festival and recorded on an internationally released CD.
\nHe will also debut Three Impromptus<\/em> – a sweeping new work of music alternately bold and tender.<\/p>\n

Isaacs has always been inspired by the extremes of drama and intimacy of the Romantics. His own new piano work often takes a very different direction, but always resolves, \u201clike the calm after the storm\u201d.<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Songs<\/em>\u00a0has been described as a “pensive suite of short piano works that plunges us
\ninto a part of ourselves we may have thought lost forever – a delicate place, marked by tentative steps but endless imagination.” Mark Isaacs says \u201cThis is music that, I hope, speaks on that level of honesty that children are fantastic at exploring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark Isaacs is an internationally-acclaimed composer, pianist and conductor in classical music and jazz. He has composed over 100 works and received many awards including an Australia Council Fellowship, the Albert H. Maggs Composition Award and the Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition. His Symphony No. 1<\/em> was premiered by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 2013 and he recently completed work on Symphony No. 2.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2015 Mark conducted the premiere of his Chamber Symphony<\/em> at the City Recital Hall with Omega Ensemble
\nand also conducted the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra in a concert of his orchestral works.
\nIn the jazz world he has recorded and toured with distinguished international figures and has twice been nominated for the ARIA Award.<\/p>\n
