Pianist, producer and composer Nils Frahm returns to Sydney following his three successful shows in 2014 including his Australian debut at Vivid LIVE.<\/p>\n

A classically trained pianist, the\u00a0Berlin-based Frahm\u2019s career-defining live album\u00a0Spaces<\/em>\u00a0(2013) displayed the avant-garde musician\u2019s unconventional approach to an age-old instrument. Now, he brings his new opus\u00a0All Melody<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 his first solo album in three years \u2013 to life with tonnes of keyboards, synthesisers and drum machines for his biggest Sydney Opera House performance yet.<\/p>\n

Recorded in Funkhaus \u2013 the 1950s-era Berlin studio that Frahm built himself from scratch \u2013\u00a0All Melody<\/em>, is in his own words, \u201cjust carte blanche for me\u2026I chased the musical dreams and sound ideas I always had” (Billboard).<\/p>\n

Influenced by his Tchaikovsky-schooled beginnings to the minimalist tradition of classical greats like Steve Reich and Philip Glass, jazz legends Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk and electronic-minded admirers such as Four Tet and Thom Yorke, Frahm\u2019s spare, elegant music stands apart in the crowded, overcharged world of electronic music (Bandwagon).<\/p>\n

Frahm’s music defies categorisation and his one-night performance in Sydney will push the boundaries of\u00a0 the contemporary and the classical and everything in-between, expertly melding older acoustic instrumentation with bracing technical experimentation.<\/p>\n
