Eight finalists announced for the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship. These emerging singers will\u00a0perform with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the hope of securing their part of the\u00a0$70,000 on offer for professional development.<\/p>\n

The 2018 Finalists are:
\nShikara Ringdahl – Soprano (Brisbane, QLD)
\nOlivia Cranwell \u2013 Soprano (Waterloo, NSW)
\nJoshua Oxley \u2013 Tenor (Lane Cove, NSW)
\nJarvis Dams – Baritone (Hamilton, NZ)
\nChelsea Dolman \u2013 Soprano (Waikato, NZ)
\nChristopher Curcuruto \u2013 Bass Baritone (Croydon Park, NSW)
\nMorgan England \u2013 Soprano (Lawnton, QLD)
\nCeleste Haworth \u2013 Mezzo Soprano (Narrabeen, NSW)<\/p>\n

Adjudicators John Bolton-Wood AM and Amelia Farrugia will be joined by Guest Adjudicator\u00a0Dr Nicholas Milton AM for the final; all three are Sydney Eisteddfod Alumni and know firsthand\u00a0how important performance and professional development opportunities are for young
\nsingers.<\/p>\n

Adjudicator Amelia Farrugia was awarded the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship in 1994\u00a0and is also a Sydney Eisteddfod Ambassador.
\n\u201cThe Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship provides invaluable & precious opportunities to\u00a0young singers. The Operatic world is highly competitive as there are so few opportunities for\u00a0Aussie artists. Young singers need to study overseas to be able to compete at an international level.”<\/p>\n

In 2018, the winner will be awarded a scholarship valued at $43,000, the\u00a0second place-getter will receive a scholarship valued at $12,000. The third place-getter will receive $5,000\u00a0and the people\u2019s choice award nominated by the audience at the final is valued at $500.<\/p>\n

Non-placing finalists will receive $1,000 and semi-finalists who do not progress to the final win $500.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship Final will be held at The Concourse Concert Hall,\u00a0Chatswood on Sunday, 15 July 2018 at 2:30pm.
