Hourglass Ensemble with Susannah Lawergren<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mozart\u2019s Kegelstatt<\/em> trio will be performed alongside new soulful song cycles and chamber works by the brightest young emerging Australian composers in\u00a0A Place in my Soul,<\/em>\u00a0a concert featuring soprano Susannah Lawergren of the Song Company and the\u00a0Hourglass Ensemble.<\/p>\n

Susannah Lawergren debuts with the ensemble, premiering song cycles about memory and loss. The line-up includes three world premieres. Amber Evans\u2019 song-cycle\u00a0Stained Red Heart<\/em> is a tender examination of aspects of separation – parenthood, Australia\u2019s Apology, and honouring the dead. Richard Grantham song-cycle Finally After All This<\/em> looks at the nature of the eulogy, the gnawing emptiness of grief and the great depths of love.\u00a0Margaret Muller\u2019s two new pieces describe separately Earth\u2019s magnetic cries as humans blithely overrun it, and the Australian sentimental joy of connection to the past and nature.<\/p>\n
