Matt Withers with Acacia Quartet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Composer Richard Charlton’s new work for guitar and string quartet,\u00a0Shorelines\u00a0<\/em>will soon receive its premiere in Canberra, followed closely by performances in Sydney and Melbourne,\u00a0as part of the Melbourne Guitar Festival.<\/p>\n

Performed by guitarist Matt Withers with Acacia Quartet, Shorelines<\/em>\u00a0is based on three watercolours by the artist Sue Needham. Also on the programme,\u00a0Matt and Acacia will be playing Phil Houghton\u2019s\u00a0In Amber<\/em>\u00a0and pieces by Rob Davidson and their Composition Competition winners.<\/p>\n

Hear the winning works of the 2018 Matt Withers Australian Music Composition Competition as the ensemble performs alongside inspirational artworks by Queensland-based artist, Sue Needham.<\/p>\n

Richard Charlton, Robert Davidson and the late Phillip Houghton are three of Australia’s most respected composers. This is a special opportunity to hear the dynamic virtuosity of the combined forces of Acacia Quartet and Matt Withers in performing this iconic music.<\/p>\n
