Ensemble Offspring<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Shards of sound and jagged rhythms envelop your ears and tickle your feet as Ensemble Offspring brings to life the wild and uncompromising squiggles of local composers Alex Pozniak, Tristan Coelho and Holly Harrison. With sound worlds so distinctive, Ensemble Offspring needed to coin a new name for their music, and they called it Spectral Tech<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The virtuosic musicians of Ensemble Offspring, conducted by Roland Peelman, get down and dirty with these three provocative premieres, alongside an ensemble favourite, Thirteen Colours of the Setting Sun<\/em>, by French spectralist, Tristan Murail.<\/p>\n

All three new works have been commissioned by Ensemble Offspring as part of its ongoing mission to offer opportunities for artistic exploration from its most talented creative voices. Ensemble Offspring Artistic Director and percussionist Claire Edwardes says, \u201cCreating new music with Australian composers is at the very heart of what we do, and it is a unique pleasure to premiere three of these works at once. Getting the chance to play them in counterpoint with a modern classic is an especially fine way to showcase their calibre.\u201d<\/p>\n
