{"id":25372,"date":"2018-09-26T15:59:46","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T05:59:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=25372"},"modified":"2018-09-26T15:59:46","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T05:59:46","slug":"tabatha-mcfadyen-steps-in-for-premiere-of-metamorphosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=25372","title":{"rendered":"Tabatha McFadyen Steps In For Premiere Of Metamorphosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-25373\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Capture11-325x221.png\" alt=\"Capture\" width=\"325\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is a golden opportunity for soprano Tabatha McFadyen and a disappointment for Opera Australia principal Julie Lea Goodwin, who has had to withdraw from the Sydney performances of a new production of Brian Howard\u2019s<em>\u00a0Metamorphosis <\/em>due to ill health<em>.\u00a0<\/em>The production has its\u00a0Australian premiere at the Opera Centre in Sydney tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McFadyen will undergo a metamorphosis of her own, from participating in Opera Australia\u2019s observer program for young directors to her debut as a principal for the company. She had not rehearsed the role until called upon to fill in at 24 hours&#8217; notice.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McFadyen\u00a0is no newcomer to the opera stage. She has a string of credits to her name and has won a number of awards and accolades for her performances, including first prize in the Mietta Song Competition 2014 and the International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition 2014, as well as scholarships from the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald\u2019s Operatic Aria, and the Mozart Opera Institute Award.
