The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra<\/p>\n

The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra’s remarkable principal players take centre stage in\u00a0Spotlight<\/em>, featuring violin, clarinet, harp and trumpet concertos in this festive season treat of Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Hummel and Damase favourites.<\/p>\n

Tim Neville performs the popular, Hummel Trumpet Concerto<\/em> before we are transported to the sparkling lights of Paris with an Australian premiere of Damase\u2019s dazzling Harp Concerto<\/em>, performed by Marjorie Maydwell. The WPO\u2019s concertmaster and virtuoso violinist Robert Nijs will take us to another world with Vaughan Williams\u2019 ethereal work, The Lark Ascending<\/em>, before Julian Alder performs the perennial favourite, Mozart\u2019s stunning and sublime Clarinet Concerto<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The WPO welcomes Brad Lucas back to the conductor\u2019s podium. Brad conducted the WPO for its thrilling \u2018True Blue\u2019 program featuring all-Australian works and gained plaudits from audience and affection from the musicians! Born in Port Macquarie, Brad moved to Sydney to study at the Conservatorium of Music and subsequently played with the SSO and the Sydney Ophicleide Quartet (SOQ) – which he co-founded. A passionate educator, Brad currently directs bands at multiple schools around Sydney and regional ensembles run by the Department of Education’s ‘The Arts Unit’. He also lectures in Euphonium at the Conservatorium.<\/p>\n
