The Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) delves into the groundbreaking new music of three of the world\u2019s most celebrated indie musicians, Radiohead\u2019s Jonny Greenwood, The National\u2019s Bryce Dessner and Sufjan Stevens alongside the sources of their inspiration, Polish composers Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutos\u0142awski and Krzysztof Penderecki.<\/p>\n
Throughout their two-week national tour, the ACO will perform Greenwood\u2019s Suite<\/em> from There Will Be Blood,<\/em> which forms part of Greenwood\u2019s critically acclaimed soundtrack to the Paul Thomas Anderson film of the same name, Sufjan Stevens\u2019 Suite<\/em> from Run Rabbit Run<\/em>, a pr\u00e9cis from his electronic music album Enjoy Your Rabbit<\/em>, and the Australian premiere of Dessner\u2019s R\u00e9ponse Lutos\u0142awski.<\/em> This music will be presented alongside Szymanowski\u2019s surging String Quartet No.2<\/em>, Penderecki\u2019s Aria<\/em> from Three Pieces in Baroque Style<\/em> and Lutos\u0142awski\u2019s Overture for Strings<\/em>, a\u00a0multifaceted experiment that has one foot in neoclassicism and the other in the avant-garde.<\/p>\n ACO Artistic Director Richard Tognetti, observes that a number of well-known indie musicians are making waves in the world of contemporary \u2018classical\u2019 music. \u201cThis includes Jonny Greenwood, with whom we\u2019ve collaborated with in the past as our composer-in-residence and who is now regarded as a film composer amongst the greats, as well as Bryce Dessner and Sufjan Stevens.\u201d<\/p>\n
