In her newest recording Cinema, <\/em>chanteuse Nadia Piave brings the luscious music of European cinema right into the intimacy of your lounge room.<\/p>\n Accompanied variously by the piano, the guitar and violin, Nadia sings some of the most classic songs from European cinematic gems that represent the best in film direction and soundtracks. The 16 tracks contain music derived from movies that date back from the present to the early \u201850s and contain lashings of nostalgia.There is Nino Rota\u2019s theme from Fellini\u2019s Amarcord,<\/em> Hadjidakis\u2019 Ta Pedia tou Pirea <\/em>(Never on a Sunday) in a more teasing vein than Melina Mercouri\u2019s bubbling bouzouki-accompanied film version; Rota\u2019s Come Live Your Life with Me <\/em>from Coppola\u2019s The Godfather <\/em>and Georges Delerue\u2019s L\u2019Amour a 20 Ans<\/em> from Truffaut\u2019s film of the same name.<\/p>\n Paying homage to the classical roots of much cinema music, are Georges Auric\u2019s Moulin des Amours<\/em> from John Huston\u2019s 1952 movie Moulin Rouge <\/em>and Satie\u2019s (whose composer\u2019s group Les nouveaux jeunes were the forerunners of Auric\u2019s Le Six) Gymnopedie <\/em>whose theme is featured in Louis Malle\u2019s My Dinner with Andre<\/em>.<\/p>\n Cinema<\/em> is a very worthy independently produced album. Nadia Piave is an accomplished and versatile singer who colours these songs with a palette of smoky hues. Her technical mastery allowing her to adapt her style to French, Italian, Greek and English songs. She sings with passion, anguish, wistfulness and yearning.<\/p>\n Whether or not you\u2019re in love Cinema <\/em>is a delightful 50 + minutes of relaxing entertainment.
