Pinchgut Opera\u2019s innovative film debut, A Delicate Fire,<\/em> featuring the music of the amazing Barbara Strozzi is now available to watch online.<\/p>\n

Barbara Strozzi was a 17th century Italian singer, a prolific composer and lutenist of the baroque period. Born in Venice c August 1619, she was successful in her own right without church or court patronage, while raising three children and conspicuously avoiding a male nome de plume.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
A Delicate Fire <\/em>is the co-creation of\u00a0 Pinchgut Opera’s musical director, conductor and keyboard player\u00a0 Erin Helyard, director Constantine Costi, production designer Charlotte Mungomery and choreographer Shannon Burns.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The cast includes the cream of Australia’s operatic talent and features mezzo-sopranos Anna Dowsley and Keara Donohoe, sopranos Taryn Fiebig and Chloe Lankshear, tenor Nicholas Jones, baritone David Greco and bass Andrew O’Connor. They are accompanied by a period instrumental ensemble comprising violinists Matthew Greco and Karina Schmitz, Hannah Lane playing baroque harp, Anthea Cottee playing cello, viola da gamba and lirone and Simon Martyn-Ellis playing theorbo and baroque guitar<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
