Soprano Taryn Fiebig and pianist Scott Davie have released a brand new collection of art song, On Eternal Love: Romantic Lieder, <\/em>Songs by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, Poulenc & Hahn <\/em>on ABC Classic. Available now, this studio recording features these two\u00a0 superb Australian artists, well-known to audiences around the country.<\/p>\n At the heart of the album is Schumann\u2019s Op. 39 Liederkreis<\/em> (Song Cycle), a deeply moving study of love and loneliness, set in the mysterious shadows of an ancient forest. From wistful reverie to rapturous delight, voice and piano together convey every nuance of the eloquent poetry. Other featured classics of the lieder repertoire, include Schubert\u2019s Gretchen am Spinnrade<\/em> (Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel), Brahms\u2019 Die Mainacht<\/em> (May Night) and Richard Strauss\u2019s Morgen<\/em> (Tomorrow), as well as two French masterpieces, \u00c0 Chloris<\/em> (To Chloris), by Reynaldo Hahn, and Francis Poulenc\u2019s delicious waltz Les Chemins de l\u2019amour<\/em> (The Paths of Love).<\/p>\n Taryn Fiebig has performed many roles with Opera Australia as Susanna and Musetta, Despina and Belinda and with Pinchgut Opera, as well as concert engagements, operetta, film and festival appearances. A performer of supreme expressive power and artistic sensitivity, this program features some of the finest examples of Romantic song. She won a Helpmann Award for her performance as Lucy Joy in Bliss<\/em>. Internationally, she has performed in the UK with the English Chamber Orchestra, at the Edinburgh Festival, and for BBC Radio 4. Scott Davie is an acclaimed pianist and scholar who has focused his career on the music of the Romantic era.<\/p>\n Pianist Scott Davie is both a soloist and chamber musician. He has given concerts throughout Australia, and his performances and recordings have been broadcast on radio and television. The recipient of numerous awards and prizes, he furthered his studies in London and now teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
