Fresh from the triumph of his soundtracks for Nomadland<\/em> and The Father, <\/em>illustrious composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi releases Underwater<\/em>, his first new solo piano album in 20 years, now available on the Decca label.<\/p>\n

Underwater<\/em> was created in lockdown, with the purest and most intimate form: just Einaudi and his piano. It features 12 new solo piano tracks, beautifully showcasing his distinctive, globally renowned musical style.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Einaudi explains: \u201cIt came naturally, more than ever before. I felt a sense of freedom to abandon myself and let the music flow differently. I didn\u2019t have a filter between me and what came out of the piano; it felt very pure. The title Underwater<\/em> is a metaphor \u2013 it is an expression of a very fluid dimension, without interference from outside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Underwater<\/em> follows an exceptionally successful 2021 for Einaudi with the release of soundtracks to Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning films Nomadland<\/em> and The Father<\/em> (which include tracks from his chart-topping 2019 release Seven Days Walking)<\/strong>, and the compilation album Cinema,<\/em> featuring his composition achievements in film and TV. The year 2021 also saw the launch of new podcast mini-series Experience: The Ludovico Einaudi Story,<\/em> starring celebrated filmmakers including multiple award-winning actor and director Russell Crowe (Gladiator<\/em>), Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao (Nomadland<\/em>), BAFTA-winning director and screenwriter Shane Meadows (This is England<\/em>), Academy Award winner Florian Zeller (The Father<\/em>), and multiple award-winning director Eric Toledano (The Intouchables<\/em>).

Einaudi is one of the most widely heard contemporary composers of the century, repeatedly topping the classical charts globally, and becoming the highest-streamed classical pianist of all time.\u00a0Underwater<\/em> has been described as a deep dive to another place, where time stops, as these songs without words become hypnotic, touched with an innocent, delicate beauty.<\/p>\n
