{"id":29898,"date":"2022-03-18T13:36:09","date_gmt":"2022-03-18T02:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=29898"},"modified":"2022-03-18T13:36:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-18T02:36:09","slug":"blackheath-chamber-music-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=29898","title":{"rendered":"Blackheath Chamber Music Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Blackheath Chamber Music Festival returns in April 2022 for a busy 4-day ANZAC weekend of exquisite classical music, featuring some of Australia\u2019s outstanding artists,\u00a0sourced nationally, internationally and locally.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its second year, the festival, with the theme of \u2018Blue Mist&#8217; features a dozen concerts and 45 top-drawer artists, taking place in the Phillips Hall, opposite Blackheath Railway Station, next to picturesque Blackheath Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>The line-up:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 22 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12.30 pm: an <em>Afternoon of Gershwin<\/em>, featuring Nexas Quartet joined by one of Australia\u2019s best-loved pianists, Gerard Willems AM.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3.30 pm: New York-based Australian pianist Andrea Lam presents a recital with the audience able to choose some of the pieces she will play!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29908\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29908\" style=\"width: 325px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-29908\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ANDREA-LAM-Low-Res-325x217.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"217\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29908\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrea Lam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>8.00pm: Goldner String Quartet\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday 23 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11.30 am: Wentworth Falls-based, Streeton Trio<\/p>\n<p>4 pm: Ensemble Offspring featuring percussionist Claire Edwardes with flautist Lamorna Nightingale, and clarinettist Jason Noble. Their <em>Songbirds at Dusk<\/em> is dynamic, evocative new music reflecting country and nature. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>8 pm: Tinalley String Quartet, joined by Benjamin Kopp on piano, promising an epic program!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-29906\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/TINALLEY-Low-Res-325x217.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"217\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday 24 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11 am: Symphony Trio featuring Sydney Symphony artists Matthew Wilkie (bassoon), Louise Johnson (harp) and Janet Web (flute).<\/p>\n<p>3 pm Orava Quartet,<\/p>\n<p>8 pm Streeton Trio with virtuoso oboist Diana Doherty and three more \u2018friends\u2019\u2026 for a super septet of stars!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 25 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11.30 am: Blue Mountains &#8211; based Kanimbla Quartet joined by recently retired SSO principal horn player Robert Johnson.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29907\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29907\" style=\"width: 325px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-29907\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Kanimbla-with-Rob-J.jpeg-Low-Res--325x217.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"217\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29907\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kanimbla Quartet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>3 pm: Violinist V\u00e9ronique Serret and Didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton as they blend western music traditions with compelling, ancient sounds of Country. Their <em>Heartland<\/em> is a poetic, major work.<\/p>\n<p>7 pm: Tinalley String Quartet returns with singer-songwriter Lior for the closing concert, <em>Through Nature to Eternity, <\/em>with achingly beautiful music exploring life, death and introspection.<\/p>\n<p><em>Visitors to the mountains and locals should also make time to sample the shops and delicious delights of picturesque Blackheath\u2019s cafes, restaurants and bakeries, as well as local wineries (but remember to book ahead).
