Schubert\u2019s songs not in their original versions with piano but in orchestral arrangements by Alexander Schmalcz, Goerne\u2019s accompanist of many years\u2019 standing.<br \/><br \/>The collection,\u00a0SCHUBERT REVISITED: LIEDER ARRANGED FOR BARITONE AND ORCHESTRA,\u00a0gives a fresh perspective on Schubert&#8217;s writing as Goerne says about Alexander Schmalcz\u2019s arrangements: \u201cHis creativity in adapting these songs for the orchestra is enormous, while his stylistic sensibilities and his subtle approach in deploying the right instruments at the right moment are truly astonishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Released on the Deutsche Grammophon label, the recording features the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen with Florian Donderer as concertmaster and leader.<\/p>\n<p>The tracks include lieder with text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (<em>Sch\u00e4fers Klagelied D 121,<\/em> <em>Erlk\u00f6nig D 328<\/em> and <em>Ganymed D 544<\/em>), Shakespeare (<em>An Silvia D 891)
