Ensemble Offsrping announces five innovative, emerging composers who have been selected from a record-large field, to participate in Ensemble Offspring\u2019s 2023 Hatched Composer Intensive. Congratulations to I<\/strong>sabella Rahme from New South Wales, Noemi Liba Friedman, Jessica Lindsay Smith and Matthew Laing all from Victoria, and\u00a0Isabella Gerometta from Queensland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Five of Ensemble Offspring\u2019s core musicians will mentor and perform a new chamber work by each composer, sharing their expertise in working with emerging composers throughout an intensive week of workshops. These performers are Claire Edwardes\u00a0(Artistic Director, percussion),\u00a0Lamorna Nightingale\u00a0(flutes),\u00a0Jason Noble\u00a0(clarinet, bass clarinet),\u00a0V\u00e9ronique Serret\u00a0(violin) and\u00a0Blair Harris\u00a0(cello).<\/p>\n

Prior to the intensive week the composers select a mentor from Ensemble Offspring\u2019s impressive list of international collaborators including Hatched Academy Ambassador\u00a0Brett Dean,\u00a0Lisa Illean,\u00a0Lachlan Skipworth,\u00a0Gemma Peacocke,\u00a0Jack Symonds,\u00a0Laura Bowler\u00a0and\u00a0Cathy Miliken.<\/p>\n

The lead mentors throughout the intensive week are Artistic Director and percussionist\u00a0Claire Edwardes\u00a0and former Artistic Director and composer\u00a0Damien Ricketson.<\/p>\n

The week will culminate in the\u00a0Hatched Composer Showcase<\/strong>, premiering all five pieces at the\u00a0The Neilson, Pier 2\/3<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on November 11.<\/p>\n
