{"id":4098,"date":"2011-08-24T17:10:25","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T07:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=4098"},"modified":"2011-08-24T17:10:25","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T07:10:25","slug":"the-australian-brandenburg-orchestra-presents-celestial-vivaldi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=4098","title":{"rendered":"The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra presents Celestial Vivaldi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next series of concerts <em>Celestial Vivaldi<\/em>\u00a0by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra is an\u00a0inspired mix which includes music taken from its original format and re-written for\u00a0ballet, for orchestra and for voices.\u00a0The composers represented lived in the glorious\u00a0days of the Baroque era. Whilst they all performed numerous instruments, each of them was an expert violinist and so we can expect\u00a0the writing for the strings to be supremely beautiful. Paul Dyer, Artistic Director of the ABO predicts that this concert will be &#8220;achingly beautiful and a highlight of the 2011 season&#8221;.\u00a0 Melbourne soprano Siobhan Stagg, alto Tim Chung, tenor Tim Reynolds and baritoneJames Roser will be joined by the Brandeburg Choir to present works by Rebel, Corrette, Dall&#8217;abaca and Vivaldi.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4101\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4101\" style=\"width: 100px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4101\" href=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/shows\/the-australian-brandenburg-orchestra-presents-celestial-vivaldi\/4098.html\/attachment\/rebel\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4101\" title=\"rebel\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/rebel-100x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4101\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jean-Fery Rebel by Watteau<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jean-Fery Rebel (1666 &#8211; 1747) was noted as a child prodigy aged 8, studied under Lully\u00a0and became court composer to Louis XIV.\u00a0His <em>Les Elements <\/em>was originally a ballet, depicting the creation, and\u00a0composed in an elaborate symphonic style. It is this with which the ABO open their programme.<\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4102\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4102\" style=\"width: 100px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4102\" href=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/shows\/the-australian-brandenburg-orchestra-presents-celestial-vivaldi\/4098.html\/attachment\/corrette\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4102\" title=\"corrette\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/corrette-100x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michel Corrette<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Michel Corrette&#8217;s (1707 -1795) <em>Laudate Dominum <\/em>is in fact a reworking of &#8216;Spring&#8221; from Vivaldi&#8217;s <em>&#8216;Four Seasons&#8217;,\u00a0<\/em>written some 25 years after Vivaldi died.<em>\u00a0<\/em>Primarily and organist, he wrote\u00a0for several genres and penned nearly two dozen text books on learning to play a various instruments &#8211; including one called &#8220;The Art of Playing the Violin Perfectly&#8221; (If only it were that easy!)<\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4103\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4103\" style=\"width: 100px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4103\" href=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/shows\/the-australian-brandenburg-orchestra-presents-celestial-vivaldi\/4098.html\/attachment\/dallabaco\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4103\" title=\"dallabaco\" src=\"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/dallabaco-100x100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4103\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evaristo Felice Dall&#39;abaco<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Evaristo Felice Dall&#8217;abaco (1675 &#8211; 1742) was a violinist of the court in Munich.
