Simon Tedeschi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pianist Simon Tedeschi is one of those rare talents\u00a0adept at performing both jazz with its improvisational adventures,\u00a0and classical\u00a0music in style. His\u00a0performing partners have included Jazz pianist Kevin Hunt, jazz violinist Ian Cooper, soprano Yvonne Kenny, pianist Roger Woodward and\u00a0conductor Benjamin Northey.\u00a0From Sydney’s The Basement, to Carnegie Hall, the\u00a0Sydney Opera House and the recording studio, a\u00a0more eclectic collection of\u00a0 performances venues would be hard to find.<\/p>\n

Next month he\u00a0joins Sydney’s Omega Ensemble at the City Recital Hall\u00a0for a concert of chamber music that extends from Mozart to Carl Vine.<\/p>\n

Tedeschi says \u00a0\u201cChamber music, perhaps the most elevated of all classical music, is always amazing, but with a group of like-minded young professionals magic can, and usually does, happen\u201d. (http:\/\/sydneyomegaensemble.instantencore.com\/web\/home.aspx<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Clarinet player David Rowden founded the Omega Ensemble in 2005. The 11 musicians of the ensemble ‘mix and match’ to suit the repertoire that they play, and for this concert, Rowden will take centre stage for Brahms’ Clarinet Trio opus 114.<\/em>\u00a0 Just like his love for the alto voice, Brahms had a deep affinity with the clarinet. Apart from the trio opus 114, Brahms composed a clarinet quintet, and several clarinet sonatas. No other single\u00a0instrument featured so strongly in his output.<\/p>\n

Also on the programme,\u00a0Richard Strauss’ puckish Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, <\/em>Carl Vine’s String Quartet No3, composed in 1994, and Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds K.452, <\/em>scored for oboe, clarinet, horn bassoon and piano, and of which Mozart was apparently very proud.<\/p>\n
