He has recorded\u00a0Prokofiev&#8217;s five Piano Concertos with the Sydney Symphony conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, and has given numerous recitals at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney&#8217;s City Recital Hall. He has also performed\u00a0in the great concert halls around the world &#8211;\u00a0the Kremlin, the\u00a0Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and Tokyo&#8217;s Suntory Hall, with the likes of the\u00a0Russian National Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the\u00a0Tokyo Symphony Orchestra,\u00a0the\u00a0Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and\u00a0the Israeli Chamber Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>His career took off\u00a0 when he won the 1999 Vladimir Horowitz Competition, the 2000\u00a0Hamamatsu competition\u00a0and the 2005 Arthur Rubinstein Competition.<\/p>\n<p>Making his debut with the Sydney Symphony is\u00a0Russian-born conductor\u00a0Thomas Sanderling, creating a perfect team for leading the interpretation of the mostly Russian programme.\u00a0Thomas Sanderling is the son of\u00a0conductor\u00a0Kurt Sanderling. He\u00a0studied first at the Leningrad Conservatory, then at the <em>Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik<\/em> in East Berlin.\u00a0At 24,\u00a0he was appointed director of the <em>Halle<\/em> Opera and his\u00a0early career, was based in\u00a0East Berlin,\u00a0working with\u00a0orchestras in Dresden and Leipzig. He was\u00a0guest conductor at the <em>Berlin<\/em> Staatskapelle, then broadening his work to both opera and orchestral companies in Western Europe and the US,\u00a0including the\u00a0Vienna State\u00a0Opera and the <em>Deutsch\u00a0Oper\u00a0<\/em>in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Included In the programme is Rachmanninov&#8217;s much loved second piano concerto.\u201cThis concerto transcends the limits and borders of the musical expression. I feel that the core of this music is its spiritual strength, inner suffering and most importantly a victorious glory of the absolute truth and love expressed in the most heartfelt sincerity,\u201d says Gavrylyuk.
