Jane Sheldon Presents Symbiosis III
New York-based Australian soprano and Symbioses director, Jane Sheldon is returning to Sydney to present Symbiosis III in partnership with the New Music Network.
Symbiosis III features guest artists Jane Bishop (flutes) and Genevieve Lang (harp) performing with Jane Sheldon. It includes the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Amanda Cole, as well as music by Kaija Saariaho, Toshio Hosokawa, George Crumb, Beat Furrer, and Salvatore Sciarrino.
Symbioses is a traveling concert series curated by Jane Sheldon. At each Symbiosis Jane and two guest instrumentalists present music for duo and trio, with a focus on works of the present and of the 20th-century avant-garde. These hour long programs are designed to cast a light on the symbiotic nature of chamber music performance: breathing together, thinking together, and witnessed at close range by the listeners.
Tickets: $20 at the door or advance bookings at trybooking.com/LRYE. Symbioses concerts are free to high school and university students on presentation of student card.
