Kats-Chernin In Finals Of Australian Women In Music Awards
Congratulations to Elena Kats-Chernin who has been nominated in two categories of the Australian Women in Music Awards. Tickets are available to attend the awards ceremonay and the conference to be held in Brisbane in May (see below).
Composer and pianist Kats-Chernin, along with recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey and oboe player Celia Craig are the finalists in the Excellence in Classical Music Award which recognises a mid-to-late career female classical music artist who has demonstrated musical excellence throughout her career, including conductors and artists working in the field of opera.
Kats-Chernin is joined by singer-songwriter Katie Noonan and composer, singer, sound-artist and acdemic Dr Eve Klein in the finalists league for Artistic Excellence which recognises exceptional creative achievement from a female artist/musician across any genre.
The winners will be announced at the Australian Women in Music Awards and Conference to beheld in Brisbane on May 18 and 19, 2022, where Kats-Chernin’s new composition Jubilissima will be premiered by the composer at the piano and trumpeter Leanne Sullivan.
