Kirsten Williams Performs With The Metropolitan Orchestra
Join The Metropolitan Orchestra and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams for the fourth and final Met Concert for 2014 in which Kirsten Williams, Associate Concertmaster with Sydney Symphony Orchestra features as soloist.
In addition to performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Kirsten regularly plays the violin for sick babies in the neonatal ward at Westmead Children’s Hospital. In recognition of her services, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2014.
The performance will open with Mozart’s popular and much-loved Overture from The Magic Flute followed by Kirsten Williams performing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. Brahms’ final symphony, the Symphony no 4 in E minor opus 98, often considered his “Magnum Opus” comprises the second half of the evening. At times serious and tragic, but overall an exuberant and commanding work, it is a fitting end to TMO’s 2014 season.
