La Seccatura – Orchestra Seventeen88 Chamber Soloists Perform Haydn, Schubert and Hummel
Under the Artistic Direction of Richard Gill OAM, the orchestra seventeen88 Chamber Soloists who are four of Australia’s most renowned chamber musicians, step off the international stage to perform Viennese classical music from the masters: Haydn, Schubert and Hummel.
The orchestra seventeen88 Chamber Soloists bring to life Viennese Classical Chamber works by Haydn, Schubert and Hummel in this program displaying virtuosity, sensitivity, drawing out the enticing colours of period instruments.
An arrangement of Haydn’s string quartets, published in the early 1800’s for clarinet, violin, viola and cello by Gambaro, brings together movements from various quartets including the famous ‘Sunrise’ Quartet to create a new work of stunning naiveté and poignancy. Schubert’s String Trio D471, composed in 1816, shows a glimpse into the Classical world in which he grew up, strongly influenced by Haydn and Mozart. Finally Hummel’s lively and dramatic Clarinet Quartet continues along the path laid by Haydn but goes on to reveal a sensuous and melodically revealing character.
The Orchestra Seventeen88 Chamber Soloists rediscover Classical and Romantic repertoire in Historically Informed Performance style, and showcase the beauty and clarity unique to instruments of the Classical era.
