La Traviata Celebration Special Offer Tickets On Sale This Week

To celebrate 200 performances of La Traviata at the Sydney Opera House, Opera Australia will offer 200 tickets on sale for 200 cents for the February 23 performance of this popular opera.
Possibly the most performed opera in the world, Verdi’s La Traviata, dazzles with irresistible music, brilliant singing and a sumptuous setting.
Opera Australia has produced an array of stunning La Traviata productions over the years with the first production staged at the Opera House in 1978. It set a very high bar for those that followed. In the starring role of Violetta was a young soprano by the name of Kiri Te Kanawa, who was in the midst of taking the world by storm. Conducting was the legendary Maestro Richard Bonynge and the production was produced by long-time OA collaborator John Copley.
La Traviata includes the show-stopping aria Sempre libera, and the famous drinking song, Brindisi. This current production by Elijah Moshinsky is one of Opera Australia’s most successful, featuring opulent party scenes in Paris and beautiful autumn afternoons in the countryside. Lavishly decorated sets and exquisite costumes along with Verdi’s famous tunes combine to create the perfect production, especially for those wanting to experience opera for the first time.
Opera Australia is offering 200 tickets on sale for the Thursday 23rd February performance of La Traviata for 200 cents each.
Tickets go on sale from the Sydney Opera House Box Office or The Opera Centre Surry Hills at 9:30am on Wednesday 8th February. Maximum 2 per person, until sold out. Tickets must be booked in person.
