Lisa Moore In Recital
New York-based Australian pianist Lisa Moore occupies a niche as the ‘queen of the avant-garde piano’. She is ‘a natural, compelling storyteller’ (New York Times), and her recitals encompass the breadth of the repertoire from Beethoven to the bleeding edge, always finding surprising connections.
In her upcoming Sydney recital, Lisa Moore plays the music of the Romantics old and new, Philip Glass, Janáček. She finds parallels in music by Beethoven and Schumann, and Martin Bresnick’s Ishi’s Song sets music and words by the last Yahi Indian – a poignant reminder of the fragility of our world and its peoples.
Sally Whitwell delivers the pre-concert talk in the First Floor Reception Room, 45 minutes before the performance.
