Renowned pianist and Beethoven scholar performs the Appassionata, one of Beethoven’s most famous sonatas in a lunchtime recital.

Willems was recognised with an ARIA award for Best Classical Album in 1999 for his recording of volume one of the Beethoven piano sonatas. He is the first Dutch and Australian pianist to record all of Beethoven’s piano sonatas and concertos on CD. The complete set of Beethoven pianos sonatas won another ARIA award in 1999. As well as being a soloist, Gerard Willems is also a highly sought after accompanist and chamber music pianist.
