McVicar’s Die Meistersingers Opens Glyndebourne To Acclaim
Sir David McVicar’s production of Mozart’s opera Così fan tutte for Opera Australia hits the boards in Sydney in July. Conducted by Jonathan Darlington, it features a glittering cast which includes Nicole Car, Anna Dowsley, Taryn Fiebig, Charles Castronovo, Andrew Jones and Richard Anderson. It also completes the trilogy of Mozart-Da Ponte operas that Sir David has produced for OA over the last three years.
Meantime – on the other side of the world, Sir David’s production of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg with Gerald Finley as Hans Sachs and Amanda Majeski as Eva has opened the 2016 Glyndebourne Festival to great acclaim.
