Musica Viva Announces Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition For 2022
Musica Viva Australia has announced the return of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (MICMC), which will be held live in Melbourne in July 2022.
Established in 1991, MICMC is a prestigious competition held every four years to identify and cultivate the next generation of chamber music ensembles. The competition welcomes applicants who embody chamber music’s ability to engage both mind and heart with performances that delight, inspire and challenge.
The competition is open worldwide to string quartets and piano trios in which all members are under the age of 35, Previous winners have come from around the world including Germany, Israel, Russia, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
With a prize pool of over $150,000 including the $30,000 cash Monash University Grand Prize, the competition is the perfect launching pad for aspiring chamber music ensembles.
Entries for the Competition can be submitted via the Musica Viva website and will close on October 1, 2021.
The MICMC semi-finals will be held live in Melbourne on July 8, 2022, and the finals on July 10, 2022.
