Nadia Piave’s Songs And Carols For Christmas
Soprano Nadia Piave’s annual Christmas concert this year …this shining night – songs and carols for Christmas features French Noëls, among other yuletide musical treats, in the gorgeous little St Peter Chanel Church in Hunters Hill. Nadia will sing a mix of medieval, renaissance and traditional carols and christmas songs, accompanied by Gino Pengue on a variety of guitars, mandolins, cittern and maybe even a balalaika, and Jess Ciampa on percussion and various ‘aural stardust-making’ instruments…
For her Christmas concerts, Nadia is committed to exploring lesser known but beautiful acoustic spaces in Sydney, and St Peter Chanel Church is one of them, with its beautiful architecture and spine-tingling acoustic! The concert of songs and carols for Christmas, celebrates the moon, the stars and all beneath them with Medieval Carols, Renaissance Villancicos, Traditional Carols, Noëls, Christmas Lullabies and songs of starry nights… followed by a sparkling Christmas refreshment afterwards
Nadia Piave is one of Sydney’s best-loved performers and teachers. Her annual Christmas concert is a delectable offering of yuletide musical bon bons ranging from mediaeval and renaissance madrigals and carols through to modern Christmas canticles and songs.
Gino Pengue has been Nadia’s musical ‘brother of another mother’ for the past 15 years. Together they have collaborated on all Nadia’s recordings including her collection of songs for Christmas, O Serafin!
Jess Ciampa is one of Sydney’s most sought after percussionists. Nadia has performed with Jess in programs of Spanish renaissance music and Irish traditional songs as well as Nadia’s 2016 All The Bells Xmas concert. Along with Gino Pengue Jess performs in Sydney ‘world music’ band Marsala.
