Bach In The (Car) Park

England’s King Richard III was found buried under a city car park and now it seems that the Weimar residence of J S Bach has met a similar fate.

The foundations of the site in Weimar where JS Bach lived for 9 years (1708 Р1717) , where his sons Wilhem Friedemann Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach were born and where he began to write The Little Organ Book and the Preludes and Fugues of The Well Tempered Clavier are today, buried beneath a car park.

The Guardian reports on a petition signed by over 11,000 Bach afficionados including Nobel prize winner JM Coetzee, requesting to buy the site and reconstruct the dwelling.
