Decca Classics has released a landmark 32-CD set of the complete works of Béla Bartók, bringing together his monumental orchestral and stage works, folk music arrangements and piano works as well as chamber and solo instrumental works.
At the heart of the collection lie some of the most legendary Bartók recordings made by artists intimately associated with his name – Sir Georg Solti, Iván Fischer, Ferenc Fricsay, Zoltán Kocsis and Pierre Boulez.
Other performers include Antal Doráti, Christoph von Dohnányi, Martha Argerich, Stephen Kovacevich, Viktoria Mullova, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gil Shaham, Takács String Quartet, Crista Ludwig and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Festival Chorus.
Drawn mainly from Decca’s catalogue, the set features several new recordings including 44 Duos for two violins BB 104, performed by the Nemetsu Sisters, previously unrecorded works for voice and piano with Mária Celeng and Gyula Nagy accompanied by Simon Lepper as well as a selection of early piano works performed by Daniel Lebhardt.
The set is accompanied by two extensive booklets, tracklists and sung texts in original language and English translations. Recorded in stereo.
