In an unprecedented move, tenor Jonas Kauffman has distanced himself from a new release by Decca called Jonas Kaufmann – The Age of Puccini. On his Facebook page, Kaufmann asserts that this CD contains just three Puccini arias and a repackaging of other arias recorded in 2010. He goes on to claim that he was not consulted in its making, was not aware of it and did not approve it.
The statement goes on to point to ‘the real’ Puccini Album a Sony release in mid-September recorded with Sir Antonio Pappano.
