Omega Ensemble – A Brahms Affair
The Omega Ensemble presents A Brahms Affair – a celebration of chemistry, romance and love that will engage your senses and leave you breathless.
Featuring the music of Brahms, Borodin and Schumann, co-artistic directors of Omega Ensemble, David Rowden and Maria Raspopova are joined by guest artist Alexandra Osborne, violin who appears by courtesy of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington.
Brahms and Schumann were close friends who were also both enamored with their equal muse, Clara Schumann, a virtuoso pianist and composer in her own right. Clara, the muse, is evident in all of Schumann’s music and his Fantasiestücke represents the unbridled passion found in the free imagination of the Romantic composer.
Borodin’s String Quartet No. 1 demonstrates his love and passion for chamber music and displays his affinity for understanding musical structures.
Brahms’ superlative Clarinet Quintet represents one of the sublime chamber pieces of the Romantic era.
