Omega Ensemble Launches CoLAB: Composer Accelerator Program
Omega Ensemble announces an important initiative which in its mission to provide a platform for diverse musical voices and, in doing so, support the livelihoods of world-class Australian talent on home soil.
In March 2021, the ensemble will launch CoLAB: Composer Accelerator Program which offers five talented pre-professional composers direct industry experience in collaboration with the musicians of Omega Ensemble. Selected through a competitive national application process, the five participants will also be mentored by Australian and international composers, including Gordon Kerry (AUS), Holly Harrison (AU), Nico Muhly (US), Luke Styles (AU) and Christopher Cerrone (US).
During this intensive nine-month program, each participant will develop a substantive new work for chamber ensemble through studio workshops and digital mentorship, before presenting their work at an industry showcase at Sydney Opera House. The program also includes a number of additional career development activities, access to public concerts and networking opportunities.
Applications for 2021 now open. Applications close 5 pm AEDT, 18 January, 2021.
