Opera Bites returns to The Roxbury Hotel with The Elixir of Love, one of Donizetti’s most delightful bel canto comic operas. Sung in English, this 90-minute version tells the story of a country bumpkin (Nemorino, sung by Peter-John Layton) who wins the hard-to-get heart of the girl he adores (Adina sung by Elli Bortolotti), aided by a “magic potion” and a travelling quack (Dulcamara sung by Murray Dahm). This charming comedy with its glittering arias bubbles along as the “elixir” causes as many problems as it solves.
