Phoenix Collective Highlights The Italian Baroque
The Phoenix Collective Concert #2 Excitement and Flair, performed in Sydney and on the Central Coast, features the virtuosic flair of the Italian Baroque with an exquisite French, double-manual harpsichord bringing to life music of the Baroque Period.
An initiative of violinist Dan Russell together with harpsichordist Christian Lillicrap and Andrew Wilson on cello, the three musicians will perform works from the Italian Baroque period by Tartini, Corelli, Biber, Vivialdi and J.S. Bach.
Built by Carey Beebe, the French double-manual harpsichord is on tour, courtesy of Central Coast Conservatorium of Music. The instrument was purchased by music lovers of the Central Coast as a result of funds raised from The Crossroads Festival of Chamber Music – an initiative of Ruth and Peter Donnelly, now under the leadership of local violin doyen Charmian Gadd.
Phoenix Collective showcases classical music with a uniquely Australian edge. The 2018 concert series offers a feast of exciting musical genres. Upcoming Concerts offer the charm of Mozart’s classical genius, the passion of Argentinean tango legend Astor Piazzolla, and the intense emotions of the late romantic and meditative calm of minimalist music.
