Scarlatti’s Steinways At Melbourne – New On Move Records
Scarlatti’s Steinways at Melbourne is a new release on Move Records, available on CD and all digital platforms, featuring Professor Ian Holtham performing 23 of Domenico Scarlatti’s 555 keyboard sonatas which remain as some of the most original compositional contributions to Western Art Music.
On this 2-CD set, Ian Holtham, the most senior member of the performance staff at the Conservatorium of Music at The University of Melbourne, and a long-time admirer and masterful performer of Scarlatti’s sonatas, has gathered the selected sonatas into four baroque tonal groupings, assigning each group to a different Steinway concert grand based on the tonal and voicing attributes of the particular Steinway Model D from the collection of Steinways at the Melbourne Conservatorium.
Professor Ian Holtham has 10 previous releases on the Move Records label.
