Scholl records Bach cantatas
Counter-tenor Andres Scholl has released a recording of cantatas by JS Bach, revisiting repertoire that he first sang as a young treble. The Decca recording (CD 478 2733) was made with the kammerorchesterbasel and was released internationally in January 2012. It is also available for download.
Scholl’s recent performances at Symphony Hall, Birmingham; the Barbican, London; the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and the Gulbenkian, Lisbon, which included material from this CD were an outstanding success.
On the CD:
Ich habe genug BWV 82
Gott soll allein mein Herze haben BWV 169
Bekennen will ich seinen Namen BWV 200 (aria)
Komm, du süße Todesstunde BWV 161(recit.)
Schlage doch, gewünschte Stunde BWV 53 (attrib. G M Hoffmann?)
