Selby & Friends ‘A Tale Of Two Cities’ 2020 Season Opener
Selby & Friends’ 2020 season opener, A Tale of Two Cities, is a fascinating program of piano trios created in two of the world’s greatest cultural hubs of the 18th and 19th centuries, Vienna and St Petersburg.
From Vienna, they will play a beloved piano trio by Mozart and Brahms’ Trio for clarinet, cello and piano, and from St Petersburg, the powerful first trio by Anton Arensky and Stravinsky’s gem, A Soldier’s Tale for violin, clarinet and piano.
Artistic Director and pianist Kathryn Selby AM’s guest artists for this tour is a taste of her 2020 season focusing on talented next-generation artists who are making waves internationally. Selby is joined by virtuoso violinist Emily Sun, the ABC’s 2018 Australian Young Performer of the Year now residing in London; Benjamin Mellefont, Principal Clarinet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra; and cellist Clancy Newman, Naumburg International Competition winner and member of the Chicago Chamber Players and the Clarosa Piano Quartet.
